Interactive tasks from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the LITEXPO exhibition “Studies & Career in Lithuania 2026” attracted the interest of prospective students

On January 22–23, 2026, the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Center LITEXPO hosted the exhibition “Studies & Career in Lithuania 2026,” where we presented the study programs offered by the Faculty of Construction at Vilnius College using interactive tools.

Indrė Sprogytė-Bredelienė, lecturer at the Department of Sustainable Management, and Robertas Barkauskas, a third-year student of Transport Logistics, worked in the interactive zone of the exhibition for two days. There, they presented creative and engaging tasks to potential students of the Transport Logistics study program, using an online 3D cargo planning program designed to optimize the placement of cargo in trucks, containers, ships, and aircraft. A total of three tasks of varying difficulty levels were presented. To complete these tasks, the students had to fit the specified amount of cargo into a limited space (container or truck). Interestingly, during the two days of the fair, the most difficult task was completed correctly only once! However, it attracted the most interest.

No less attention was paid to the Gamma AR app demonstrated on January 23 by Vidmantas Urbonas, a lecturer at the Department of Construction Engineering, which allows BIM models to be viewed in augmented reality on a construction site. This convincingly demonstrated that construction can be an innovative, dynamic, and truly exciting field for future specialists! Visitors who tried out the app were very interested, surprised, and impressed by the possibilities it offered.

Of course, in addition to interesting activities, the exhibition also answered questions that interested students, such as the exams required for admission, state-funded study places, admission and study processes, etc. After talking to each student, we learned about their expectations and which schools they came from. This allowed us to establish contacts and plan future creative workshops or lectures at their schools.

During the two days of the exhibition “Studios & Career in Lithuania 2026,” more than 20 students from different schools in the Joniškis district, Želva, Musninkai, Elektrėnai, Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Naujoji Akmenė, Dieveniškės, Nemenčinė, Visaginas, and, of course, Vilnius.

We achieved our goal – we provided curious and creative students with the information they wanted and needed, and allowed them to try out programs that are actually used in logistics and construction. We believe that the students were genuinely interested, so we look forward to new meetings in the future with even more optimism and interesting questions.

The interactive activities were organized by Indrė Sprogytė-Bredelienė, lecturer at the Department of Sustainable Management, Robertas Barkauskas, third-year student of Transport Logistics, and Vidmantas Urbonas, lecturer at the Department of Construction Engineering.
