From 10 to 17 September 2026, Vilnius College hosted the ‘Spaceship Earth 2026’ science festival.
This was one of the largest science outreach projects in Lithuania, and on 16 September 2026, Julius Gaidys, a lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, delivered a lecture entitled ‘Connections between Earth and Space – Logistics’.
The lecture was attended by pupils from various schools across Lithuania, who gained a slightly different perspective on space – through the prism of logistics, transport and technology. How do satellites reach space? Who manages their journey? Why is logistics important even beyond Earth’s boundaries?
The pupils learnt about space logistics, its links to transport, technology and science, and also discovered Lithuania’s role in the space sector and the solutions being developed by our country’s companies and scientists.
There was also discussion of how space technology is already contributing to our daily lives – from navigation and communications to environmental monitoring and business innovation.
We would like to thank all the event participants and the organisers of the ‘Spaceship Earth 2026’ science festival for the opportunity to embark on a journey together from Earth to space!
